Load shedding calendars

Cape Town load shedding calendars

How electronic calendars work

I have given details about how calendars get shared here: https://webapps.stackexchange.com/a/149313/109353

Basically, the iCal address can be tapped on by iPhone users, but Android users have to copy the address, then paste it into "Add calendar > From URL" (on Google Calendar, at least). So, if you are an Android user, please copy the iCal link. Unfortunately, Google Sites masks URLs (in order to check for spam), so I will have to show the link without it being a hyperlink.

Why you may want to use these calendars

There are two reasons why you may want to use these electronic calendars, which show the loadshedding times for selected zones in Cape Town, on repeat every month. The first is that, with the calendar feed integrated into your calendar app, you will then easily be able to plan around loadshedding times, in advance (the slots would show up for many weeks into the future). Not always likely that load shedding will happen, but trust me, life is far better if you just schedule social events in response to load shedding, if there is a bout of load shedding. E.g., go on a run during the blackout!

The second reason is that EskomSePush hasn't been designed to show Cape Town's stage clearly. The Cape Town stage is normally one stage lower than Eskom's stage—please look at @CityofCT on Twitter, to get official information about this (or Facebook).

Repetition

The official (but complicated) load shedding schedules. The monthly schedule for an area repeats every month. The pattern will never change.
